Nearly 10 years after 9/11, this is some good news: a new Pew Research Center poll reports that Muslim Americans are pleased with life in the United States. Of those interviewed, 82 percent said they were “satisfied” with their lives, and 79 percent felt thought their communities were great. Interestingly, 56 percent of Muslim Americans gave a thumbs up to the current state of the country—only 23 percent of Americans in general feel the same way. The most startling finding in the poll was that while only 21 percent of Muslim Americans think that extremism is rampant in their society, a whopping 40 percent of the public believe that a good amount of U.S. Muslims support extremism. The poll is based on 1,033 Muslim Americans who were surveyed between April 14 and July 12.
