If Muammar Gaddafi is there, it’s probably not for the tourism. A large convoy of armored Libyan vehicles arrived at the town of Agadez in northern Niger on Monday, Reuters reports. The convoy, which contained between 200 and 250 vehicles, carried officers from Libya’s southern army battalions and was being escorted by the Nigerian military. A French military source said that Gaddafi and his son Saif al-Islam were considering joining the convoy to travel to Burkina Faso, where he has been offered asylum. The news comes as a standoff between Libyan loyalists and rebels continues.
