Yet another piece of offensive apparel is making headlines this week. The New York-based beauty and costume chain Ricky’s was selling a women’s “Anna Rexia” costume this year, which would have allowed women to dress up as the eating disorder for Halloween. The costume featured a black dress with a skeleton on it, a tape measure, and a hairpiece in the shape of a bone. A spokesman for the National Eating Disorders Association said, “It makes light of something really serious. It’s hard for us to find it funny.” After public criticism, the chain pulled the costume from its website and vowed to stop selling it.
