A mass grave has been found in the Libyan capital of Tripoli. The site near the Abu Salim prison contains the remains of 1,200 bodies, Al Jazeera reported Sunday. The government of ousted dictator Muammar Gaddafi reportedly used Abu Salim to detain opponents, including those who rebelled against him. The prison was the scene of a massacre in 1996. According to human-rights groups, about 2,000 inmates were killed in the incident. Meanwhile, the Libyan interim government has pulled back from the town of Sirte, Gaddafi's hometown, as forces loyal to the former leader mounted a strong resistance. But the transitional council is regrouping for another push.
