A mosque burned in an Arab town in northern Israel early Monday morning. The attack is believed to be carried out by radical Jewish settlers, protesting limits against building in the West Bank and other Palestinian areas. There have been a number of arson attacks against mosques in the past two years, which have been billed “price tags,” in reference to the settlement disputes. Later in the day, hundreds of villagers marched against the attack in the direction of a nearby Jewish town and were dispersed by police using tear gas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the mosque fire “against the values of the state of Israel,” and the country’s president visited the mosque with a group of rabbis and other faith leaders.
