Why Apple TV Will Work This Time

Here’s something for all you still-bummed-out Steve Jobs fans. Bloomberg News offers the clearest report yet that Apple is working on a television set. Tech blogger Dan Frommer says Apple's path to success is clearer than ever before. For years, techies have speculated that the company would hold off on making a TV until it could effectively ignore the “embarrassingly outdated” cable set-tops that would worsen the user experience. Now, with cable providers moving toward adopting Internet protocol service, that time may soon arrive. “After reinventing the mobile phone (iPhone) and personal computer (iPad), it makes sense for Apple to eventually apply its magic to the living room,” writes Frommer. If that doesn’t excite the Steve Jobs acolytes out there, nothing will.
