After calling emergency talks Sunday, Greece has agreed to form a new unity government, the nation's president said in a statement. The new government will see that the EU's bailout plan is put into action, and will not be led by Prime Minister George Papandreou. Papandreou met with opposition leader Antonis Samaras to discuss a potential power-sharing deal to help the government move forward. The prime minister has agreed to resign if leaders can reach an agreement for a temporary government that will land Greece a bailout from the EU. Samaras refused to participate in further talks unless Papandreou’s resignation was on the table.
