In the wake of the Penn State rape scandal, veteran sports writer and firebrand Buzz Bissinger returns in Newsweek to an argument he’s made often about college sports: it’s time to tear down the system. “There must be changes to control the monster that college sports have become,” he writes, floating possibilities like incorporating college football to make them separate from the schools, and turning unprofitable programs into club teams.
