The car arsonists in Los Angeles didn’t take off the holiday: Several new automobile fires kept fire fighters busy Saturday, as police searched for suspects. The new wave of fires comes on top of the blazes set Thursday and Friday nights—the worst spate of arsons in Los Angeles since the 1992 riots. Police arrested two people Friday on suspicion of setting fires but say they are not suspects in the arsons. Authorities are looking for a man driving a white and tan mid-1990s Lexus ES300 but also say, given the number of blazes, that multiple suspects are likely. Police are keeping quiet about details out of fear of jeopardizing the investigation.
