Oakland police reportedly fired tear gas and "flash" grenades on Occupy protesters on Saturday in a rally that brought an estimated 2,000 people before turning violent. One officer said about 10 people were arrested Saturday afternoon when some of the crowd reportedly threw objects at police. The protest started when about 250 people gathered in the city streets around noon, and protesters attempted to take over a vacant building and turn it into a social and political hub.
