A Washington State man whose wife went missing in 2009 intentionally blew up his home, killing himself and his two sons, moments after the kids arrived for a supervised visit, police said. Josh Powell was the husband of a Utah woman who has been missing since 2009. Child Protective Services brought the boys to the house for a supervised visit; Powell let the kids inside the house but blocked the agent from entering. The social worker smelled gas, and moments later the home exploded. A few days earlier, in an affadivit when applying to have custody of his children, Powell said that he was a "fit and loving father" and his resilience as a person would prove wrong those who blame him for his wife's disappearance. In 2009, Powell said he went on a drive with his sons when his 28-year-old wife disappeared.
