Two women who were considered a “poster couple” for gay rights have filed for divorce after three years. “We’re human, and we went through difficult times,” said one of the women, Robin Tyler. Tyler and Diane Olson were one of the first couples to marry in 2008 when same-sex marriage was legal in California, and they were one of the 14 couples who originally challenged Proposition 8. Tyler said their marital troubles would be no different if they were a man and a woman: “We’re just like anybody else, and that’s all they can expect from us.” Tyler and Olson have known each other 40 years and have been a couple for 18, but they said the marriage had run its course.
