Embroiled in three separate police operations (the latest being bribery arrests at the newspaper The Sun), an investigation by Parliament, a judicial inquiry, and a stack of civil lawsuits, the probe into the phone-hacking scandal at Rupert Murdoch’s News International is now focusing on a printout of an email that was excavated three months ago. Murdoch’s son James has said that he failed to read the whole email, which catalogued the extent of the phone hacking at the shuttered News of the World, but investigators are looking to the printout as evidence that the email was not ignored and left discarded, as James Murdoch claimed.
