Rick Santorum is really going after the conservative Christian vote—and playing up the image of President Obama as a threatening foreigner whose theology isn’t “based on the Bible.” Former White House press secretary and now formal Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said Sunday that Santorum’s comments are “well over the line.” “I think it is time in our politics in which we get rid of this mindset that if we disagree, we have to disqualify each other,” Gibbs told ABC’s This Week. The Obama campaign fired back at Santorum Saturday, calling his statements “just the latest low” by the Republicans, but Santorum has defended his remarks that “the new low” is actually Obama’s secular beliefs. Santorum tried to walk back his remarks, saying he had never questioned whether Obama was a Christian, but rather the president's world view.
