The Michigan Republican party decided Wednesday to award its two at-large delegates to Mitt Romney, giving him 16 total Michigan delegates versus Rick Santorum’s 14. Displeased by the decision, Santorum called Romney’s acquisition of the delegates “the kind of backroom dealing, political thuggery, that just cannot happen in America.” Santorum wasn’t the only one who disagreed with the decision. Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, a Romney supporter and sometimes surrogate, didn’t think the vote was fair. “I have this crazy idea that you follow the rules,” he said. “I’d love to give the at-large delegates to Mitt Romney, but our rules provide for strict apportionment.”
