Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum hit the Illinois suburbs ahead of Tuesday’s competitive primary, taking aim at each other and President Obama at various campaign rallies. Romney knocked Obama’s new campaign-funded documentary, The Road We Traveled, calling it a “docu-mercial,” while Santorum blasted the president’s health-care plan and foreign policy during speeches at schools in Arlington Heights. The president, meanwhile, made only a subtle reference to his GOP rivals while holding two fundraisers in his home state Friday, where he raised an estimated $2 million before leaving for Atlanta. “My message to all candidates is, ‘Welcome to the Land of Lincoln,’ ” he said. “Because I’m thinking maybe some Lincoln will rub off on them while they’re here.”
