Blind activist lawyer Chen Guangcheng, who arrived in the U.S. this week after tense diplomatic negotiations with China for him to leave the country, pushed on Thursday for local officials who he say harassed and abused him and his family to be prosecuted. Chen said that authorities should “promptly investigate and prosecute those lawless” officials for who were responsible for holding him while he was held under what he calls “illegal detention.” The treatment that he and his family received, Chen told Reuters, was “entirely against Chinese law, saying, “What’s wrong with me going outside?”
