The first round of voting in the French legislative elections is over and exit polls show that newly elected President Francois Hollande's Socialists and their allies are set to win. The Socialists seem tied with the center-right UMP party but additional allies give them a five percent boost. There are 577 seats and polling agencies agreed that Communist-backed Left Front could win at least 289 and as many as 368. The Socialists already have control of the Senate, and Hollande is poised to get a majority in the lower house as well, which paves the way for him to pass his reform mandates.
