Facebook’s photo-tagging capabilities are about to get a lot more advanced. The world’s largest social-networking website has bought Face.com, the company announced Monday, a startup that specializes in facial-recognition technology. Facebook, which went public a month ago, has been making acquisitions left and right ever since it bought the photo-sharing application Instagram in April. The company did not disclose the terms of the latest deal, which will help users tag photos and find images online through facial-recognition software. Facebook already uses some of the Israeli startup's technology, but the new acquisition hints that Facebook is looking to further expand in the smartphone market.
