Mitt Romney will be making a political pilgrimage to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this summer, his campaign has confirmed. Romney has been hoping to skim a few percentage points off of American-Jewish voters, who tend to vote overwhelmingly Democrat but whose support for Obama may have developed a crack or two. Toward that end, he recently pledged to “do the opposite” of Obama when it comes to Israel policy. Also likely to be on Romney’s agenda: meetings with Israeli President Shimon Peres, American ambassador to Israel Daniel B. Shapiro, and Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
