Celeste Holm, who swept the Great White Way like a prairie wind with her debut in Oklahoma! in 1943, has died at age 95. Apart from her numerous appearances on Broadway, Holms had numerous television and film credits, including 1950’s All About Eve. She was also a 1982 Ronald Reagan appointee to the National Council on the Arts and became noted for her charitable work with the National Mental Health Association and the Creative Arts Rehabilitation Center. The actress, who won an Oscar for her appearance in Gentleman’s Agreement in 1947, passed away surrounded by friends and relatives in her Central Park West apartment early Sunday morning.
