According to a Washington Post investigation into campaign ad spending, 80 percent of all pro-Romney ads for the general election have been paid for by super PACs. The Romney campaign itself has spent only $35 million so far to air advertisements in swing states. On the other hand, Democratic super PACs have paid for just 19 percent of general-election advertisements. Eight of the 10 biggest-spending outside groups for television ads are affiliated with the Republican Party.
