With day one of the Republican National Convention put on hold, House Speaker John Boehner has some time to ponder the purpose of party conventions. What's the point, Boehner wondered Monday as he recalled Hurricane Gustav getting in the way of 2008’s GOP gathering in Minnesota. “These are very expensive propositions to put on. I think that given as much news as people get today and the way they get their news, I’m not sure that having a four-day convention for the future makes a lot of sense,” he told The Christian Science Monitor.
