Kenyan forces have subdued a group of al Qaeda-linked Somali militants known as Al-Shabab, Kenyan officials said on Friday. The terror group’s last stronghold, the Somali city of Kismayu, was stormed by Kenyan troops and Somali allies in an amphibious operation on Thursday night and was captured Friday afternoon. Although this development temporarily ends Al-Shabab's ability to hold and control large territories, it could lead to an even more dangerous underground guerilla phase of the conflict.
