Losing hurts—luckily Al Gore has practice. The former vice-president’s Current TV progressive news channel —is up for sale, according to the New York Post. CEO Joel Hyatt told the Post that the move was inevitable. “Current has been approached many times by media companies interested in acquiring our company,” he said, “As a consequence, we thought it might be useful to engage expertise to help us.” Launched in 2005, the network struggled to find its voice, first aiming at a youth-centric vibe, then shifting towards heavier news when that proved unsuccessful—and had a high-profile failure with Keith Olbermann, who Current TV hired in 2011 but subsequently fired in March 2012.
