Who knew being a Tampa socialite could be so fulfilling? Jill Kelley received a prestigious award from the Joint Chiefs of Staff—the country’s second-highest civilian honor—in March 2011. She was awarded for her “selfless contributions” and “willingness to host engagements” for politicians and military officials. Of course, David Petraeus was the one who recommended she receive the award and presented it to her himself at the ceremony. Kelley and her husband are known for lavish parties thrown at their $1.5 million mansion in Tampa. According to her citation, “these events promoted camaraderie, understanding and a better appreciation for coalition and military customs, concerns and abilities.”
