It's not a bad day to be Wayne LaPierre. The National Rifle Association has gained more than 100,000 new members since the horrific shooting in Newtown, Conn, which killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School, including 20 children. Politico reports that the number of paid members now stands at 4.2 million. But the NRA is just getting started. “Our goal is to get to 5 million before this debate is over,” the association said in a statement. The report comes just one day after Vice President Joe Biden told the press that he was “determined to take action” on gun-control legislation, calling it a “critically important” issue for the White House. Biden plans to meet with the NRA today.
