Gunmen in Nigeria kidnapped seven foreigners at a Lebanese construction company in the northern city of Jama’are, police said. The abductees included a Briton, an Italian, a Greek, and four Lebanese workers, including two women. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the raid, but the region has been plagued by kidnappings by Muslim extremists—and an al Qaeda–linked group took responsibility for the kidnapping of a French national in December. Local police chief Mohammed Ladan said gunmen attacked a prison overnight before storming the construction firm’s compound.
