North Korea is building up its prison complexes, according to satellite images taken by a U.S.-based firm. The notorious prison Camp 25 grew 72 percent, now housing 5,000 prisoners in conditions that are believed to be “deplorable.” The perimeter guards increased from 20 in 2003 to 43 in 2010, and the perimeter fence has been extended by 4,600 feet. Human rights group said the expansion could be due to purges by Kim Jong-un as he seeks to clean out members of his father’s administration in case they cause a threat to his power base.
