Michigan's longest-serving senator is throwing in his hat--with the hopes of getting a better one. The 78-year-old Democrat says he will not seek reelection in 2014, and hopes instead to serve as the Senate Armed Services chairman. Levin has been in the Senate since 1978, and has served on the committee for nearly that long. He also says he hopes to focus on Michigan "without the distraction of campaigning for reelection." Without Levin, Democrats face the prospect of an open seat in Michigan, one of their fiercest battleground states. Game on, GOP.
