Sorry, John Kerry, it looks like Susan Rice is still the White House’s favorite. Sources hinted Sunday that the embattled United Nations ambassador is the president’s top contender to become the next national-security adviser—a position that does not need the Senate’s confirmation. Rice had been the president’s top choice to be the next secretary of State, but her prospects crashed and burned after questions arose over her reaction to the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and Senate Republicans vowed to fight her every step of the way. Rice had stayed out of view since her public downfall, but reemerged this week with an appearance on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, and sources said she still has the support of the Obama administration.
