Lawyers for Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympic runner accused of murdering his girlfriend, are appealing his bail conditions, calling them “unwarranted and not substantiated by the facts.” Pistorius has insisted he shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp on February t14 because he mistook her for an intruder, but prosecutors have alleged that Pistorius killed her intentionally after an argument. In particular, Pistorius’s lawyers take issue with the bail condition that requires Pistorius to surrender his passport and all travel documents. The appeal also claims there is “no basis in fact or law” to justify that Pistorius be supervised by probation or correctional officer. The olympian is currently staying at his uncle’s home in a suburb of Pretoria.
