Just hours after deadly riots tore through Burma, a fire blazed through a Burmese refugee camp in Thailand, killing at least 42. Allegedly started by a cooking accident, the fire turned many of the crowded camp’s main buildings into ash. Conflicting reports on the number of victims remain, with some sources reporting as many as 62 dead. The camp—which houses some 3,700 refugees—is made up of temporary homes and thatch huts, 400 of which burned Saturday. A school, a clinic, and two food warehouses were also incinerated.
