Former Pakistani prime minister Pervez Musharraf was put on house arrest Friday over the suspected killing of ex–prime minister Benazir Bhutto five years ago. Musharraf has been charged with conspiracy to commit Bhutto’s murder, one of many legal cases against him since his return to Pakistan in March. Prior to Friday’s hearing, he had already been on a two-week house arrest, set to expire May 4, for charges related to his alleged firing of judges when he imposed emergency rule in November 2007. Despite four years of self-imposed exile, Musharraf returned to the country in March and announced plans to run for president.
