Good news: Jon Stewart will be back on TV! Bad news: in Cairo. Comedy Central’s satirist in chief will appear as a guest of Dr. Bassem Youssef’s on Egypt’s incredibly popular version of The Daily Show, al-Bernameg (“The Program” in English), to air on Friday. Youssef criticizes political figures like Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi the same way Stewart goes after leaders in the U.S. The difference? As Stewart describes it, Youssef “performs his satire in a country still testing the limits of its hard-earned freedom, where those who speak out against the powerful still have much to fear.” Youssef has been a guest on The Daily Show twice.
