It was over in time for Mad Men, but that didn’t make it any less awesome. Daredevil Nik Wallenda walked on a two-inch tightrope across the Grand Canyon on Sunday night, taking just 22 minutes and 54 seconds to walk the 1,400 feet. He did not use a tether or a safety net. “It took every bit of me to stay focused that entire time,” Wallenda said. “My arms are aching like you wouldn’t believe.” He said he stopped and crouched down twice—and rubbed the sole of his shoes for grip—once due to wind and once because the cable had been moving. Wallenda is the first person to ever complete the walk. He used the same cable to walk across Niagara Falls last year.
