Get ready, West Coast, it’s about to get toasty! A massive heat wave bearing down on the Western U.S. is expected to bring record-high temperatures to regions already known as “summer scorchers.” Meterologists predict that Death Valley, California, will see temperatures reaching 130 degrees Fahrenheit, just 4 degrees shy of the world record of 134 degrees, set in 1913. Triple-digit temperatures are also projected for Phoenix and Las Vegas. CBS meteorologist Jeff Berardelli called it “a once-in-a-century-type heat wave in the deep Southwest.” At these temperatures, certain fleets can fly, while others remain grounded until the temperature falls.
