When will it be on Netflix? Orson Welles’s lost 1938 film Too Much Johnson has been found in a warehouse in Italy. The slapstick comedy was supposed to be shown in three snippets as the prologue to a stage play adapted by Welles. Music and other sound effects were supposed to be added, but the film was never finished and was thought to have been destroyed in a fire at Welles’s home in Madrid. It was long believed that Citizen Kane was Welles’s first feature film, but Too Much Johnson was actually conceived first. Now that it’s restored, it will premiere on October 9 at Italy’s silent film festival, Pordenone, and is scheduled to screen in the U.S. on October 16.
