A gunman and a hostage were killed early Wednesday in a small town in Louisiana after a dramatic 12-hour standoff that ended when SWAT teams stormed the bank. The gunman, Fuaed Abdo Ahmed, allegedly shot both his hostages as the SWAT teams arrived, one of whom later died. The police then shot and killed Ahmed, state police spokesman Albert Paxton said. “He was angry and he wanted to kill the hostages,” Paxton said. Ahmed initially took three bank employees hostage, but released one woman after several hours. Ahmed suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and heard voices in his head, police said. Born in California to Yemeni parents, police said there is no indication that Ahmed is linked to any terror threats against the U.S.
