The managing editor of The Washington Post, Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, confirmed that the newspaper's website was hacked Thursday by the Syrian Electronic Army. WashPo is the latest victim in a string of cyberattacks the SEA has carried out this week—including one that caused The New York Times to go dark. Garcia-Ruiz said the hackers gained access to their site through Outbrain, a company used by many media sources (including The Daily Beast) to display related content to readers. Outbrain confirmed the attack a little before 1:00 p.m. ET Thursday in a post on its tech blog, telling users that the service would be suspended until they can be sure it's "safe to turn it back on securely."
