A car bomb exploded in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula on Wednesday, killing at least six people and wounding 20. A suicide bomber drove a car at a high speed into the government’s intelligence headquarters in the town of Rafah, and witnesses told the BBC that a body had been found inside the car. The building is considered the most important intelligence office in North Sinai. A second blast hit an army checkpoint shortly afterward, but it was unclear if there were any injuries. The bombing comes just days after the Egyptian Army launched a major offensive in Rafah and nearby Sheikh Zuweyid, killing at least nine Islamic militants.
