Just hours after the U.S. and Russia negotiated a chemical-weapons deal with the Syrian government on Saturday, the opposition in the country elected a new leader. Moderate Islamist Ahmad Tumeh was elected provisional prime minister of the Syrian National Coalition in hopes that he will boost the group's credibility in the eyes of other countries. Tumeh, a former political prisoner, received 75 out of 97 votes cast.
