“Congress has to stop governing by crisis,” President Obama said on Tuesday during a statement on the goverment shutdown. Only thinly veiling his frustration with the Republicans in Congress, Obama defended the Affordable Care Act, calling it a “life-changing opportunity” for the 15 percent of Americans without health insurance. This is “not how adults operate,” he said of Republicans’ determination to defund the act, adding that he “will not negotiate over Congress’s ability to pay bills it’s already racked up.” On a brighter note (sort of), Obama said that over 1 million people visited the Obamacare website before 7 a.m. this morning and that is why it has been running so slowly. He’s promised to speak more on the debt limit in the coming days.
