Vo Nguyen Giap, the North Vietnamese general who pushed the U.S. out of Vietnam, died Friday. Believed to be 102 years old, Giap was one of the last living members of a generation that lived through a revolutionary transition from colonial rule to communism and fought a war against the United States. Giap went from a former teacher and journalist with no military training when he joined an informal communist insurgency in the 1940s to one of the most highly revered military figures of the 20th century.
