Democrat Terry McAuliffe narrowly defeated Republican and Tea Partier Ken Cuccinelli on Tuesday in the race to be the next governor of Virginia. CBS, Fox, NBC, and The New York Times called the race early. McAuliffe will take over from Gov. Bob McDonnell, who was barred by state term limits from running for reelection. McAuliffe was the Democratic National Committee chairman between 2001 and 2005.
