Defendant Monitored by NSA Sues

Things just got a little more complicated for the folks at the National Security Agency. A criminal defendant who found out his communications were monitored by the NSA under FISA Amendments Act of 2008 is suing to challenge the law’s constitutionality. The motion argues that the law violates the Fourth Amendment by allowing the government to collect the international communications of U.S. residents in bulk, without individualized court review. "Surveillance conducted under this statute is unconstitutional, and the fruits of this surveillance must be suppressed," said ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jameel Jaffer.
