Wendy Davis may be dialing back her abortion politics in her campaign for the governorship of Texas. She told the Dallas Morning News she could have supported the 20-week abortion ban she filibustered against for 13 hours if it hadn’t placed restrictions on clinics and providers. “I would have and could have voted to allow that to go through, if I felt like we had tightly defined the ability for a woman and a doctor to be making this decision together and not have the legislature get too deep in the weeds of how we would describe when that was appropriate,” she said. While opponents are casting it as a “desperate” political pivot, Davis’ spokeswoman said, “It’s not new information. She has often talked about this in her speeches.”
