Lawmakers in Belgium voted 86 to 44 for a law allowing children to have the same right as adults to choose their death on Thursday. The new law, which will now go to King Philippe for signing, would allow minors to pursue euthanasia, provided they are personally able to say they want to die, they completely comprehend their choice, and have "constant and unbearable physical or mental suffering that cannot be alleviated." A parent or guardian must also give consent after doctors and psychologists assess the choice.
