Bail will cost $200,000 for the musician charged, following the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, with stashing 300 packets of heroin in his East Village apartment. To be clear, Robert Vineberg is not being charged with playing a role in Hoffman’s apparent overdose, but with possession with intent to sell, based on the bags of heroin and $1,300 cash that police found in his apartment after Hoffman’s death earlier this month. The New York state Supreme Court Justice who presided over Vineberg’s appeal for bond was skeptical about his attorney’s argument that Vineberg was a friend of Hoffman’s and an addict himself, and that the stash found in his apartment was for his own use.
