Apparently, oppressing homosexuals is the most popular political cause in Africa. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has bowed to pressure and will sign a new law that punishes homosexuality with a life sentence. He had previously written to parliament, saying he did not want to sign the bill because he believed homosexuality was an “abnormality.” However, he has now decided on criminalization, a move welcomed by his party as a “measure to protect Ugandans from social deviants.”
